The Kalamazoo Department of Public Services today announced the Inkster Street bridge over Bronson Boulevard - from Westchester Lane to Plymouth Lane - will close to vehicular traffic indefinitely on Monday, May 3 at 8 a.m.
The bridge is being closed out of an abundance of caution to motorist safety until it can be removed and replaced.
The project is currently in the design engineering phase and it is expected that the design and construction project may take 18 to 36 months to complete.
The bridge will remain open to pedestrian and bike traffic at this time.
Motorists are advised to follow the posted detour signs in the area.
