City of Kalamazoo will share project details, address concerns, and answer questions
The City of Kalamazoo will host a virtual meeting on Wednesday, February 9, at 6:30 p.m. to discuss a project to reconstruct Inkster Bridge. The project will provide two-way traffic for all bridge users across Bronson Boulevard, restoring neighborhood connectivity for motor vehicles while maintaining a pedestrian walkway.
Residents can join the meeting via the Zoom link (https://us06web.zoom.us/j/89680667970) or by calling 269-552-6425 and entering Meeting ID 896 8066 7970.
The virtual meeting will begin with a presentation from City staff on the timeline and funding details, followed by a discussion about aesthetic design elements. City staff will also address any concerns and questions residents may have about the project. Community members can ask questions and join the discussion during the meeting by raising their hand in Zoom or by pressing *9 to raise their hand if dialing in.
The meeting will also be recorded and made available on the City of Kalamazoo’s YouTube Channel following the meeting.
The Inkster Avenue Bridge over Bronson Boulevard was closed to vehicles in May 2021 out of an abundance of caution pertaining to safety concerns. The bridge has remained open to pedestrians and bicyclists. A design process for the bridge began in 2020 and is scheduled to be completed later this spring in order to apply for additional funding opportunities. Funding details will be discussed at the meeting, however, reconstruction of the bridge will start no later than 2024.
