Property taxes for the year are split into two bills. One is issued in the summer and one issued in the winter.
Summer tax bills are mailed by July 1 and are due by July 31. Summer tax bills can be paid all at once or in six monthly payments. To pay in installments, just pay the first installment amount stated on your tax bill by July 31. We will provide a statement each month for the remaining payments, and there are no interest or penalties when payments are made on time.
If the installment amount is not paid by July 31, a one-time 3% penalty will be added to your balance, and 1% interest will be charged on the first of each month.
Winter tax bills are mailed by December 1 and are due by February 14 of the following year. Winter property tax bills must be paid in full.
If either tax bill is not paid by March 1 of the following year, they become delinquent and must be paid to the Kalamazoo County Treasurer.
Note: the payment processor charges a 2.8% service fee (minimum $1.50) for credit/debit card payments and a $0.85 service fee for electronic checks. This is collected by the processor and applies to payments made online, by phone, and in person.
