KVCC staff will provide an overview of their cannabis education programs, highlighting pathways to employment within the industry. This event will offer valuable insight into the opportunities and resources available through this initiative for people interested in beginning a new career or expanding their existing knowledge and skills.

"We're excited to launch this program, which aims to create more equitable access to education and career opportunities in the cannabis industry," said Jared Chambers, business specialist for the City of Kalamazoo. "Social equity has been a key focus for our local cannabis industry as we work to extend these opportunities to those most affected by cannabis prohibition. This is an excellent chance for individuals to take the next step in their professional journey."

Refreshments will be provided, and attendees are encouraged to bring their questions and ideas as the community works together to foster a more inclusive and equitable cannabis industry.

About the Social Equity Cannabis Chamber

Kalamazoo’s Social Equity Cannabis Chamber was created in 2024 as a direct result of the City of Kalamazoo’s commitment to addressing disparities in the cannabis industry. It provides a variety of events, webinars, workshops, and educational resources, to create a robust ecosystem for learning and growth in the cannabis sector. The Chamber is dedicated to increasing diversity and inclusion in the cannabis industry, focusing on entrepreneurship and workforce development. It’s funded by marijuana business fee and tax sharing revenue. Kalamazoo’s Marijuana Social Equity Policy requires at least 25% of such revenue to be invested in equity programs and initiatives.
