Curbside Storm Debris Pickup Underway In Hardest Hit Areas

Published on June 20, 2024

Curbside pickup will be available to help City residents in the hardest hit parts of the city clean up after the June 16 storms. City crews will be collecting debris from the curb lawn and helping to clear driveways in the South Westnedge Neighborhood and part of the Milwood Neighborhood, where the most significant storm damage occurred.

Residents in these areas may place trees, limbs, sticks, and brush at the curb for pickup. There are no restrictions on size or volume.

The pickup will be organized into three collection areas, with crews moving from east to west. Pickup is already underway in the east area, but residents can continue to place debris out as it continues. Residents are encouraged to put their debris at the curb as soon as possible but no later than Monday, June 24.

The City’s monthly curbside brush pickup is also available to help clear yard waste and debris for all residents in the city. This additional pickup is intended to assist those residents who have storm debris that is too large to be accepted in the regular program. Information on brush pickup is available at www.kalamazoocity.org/brush.

Residents outside of this collection area that have storm debris too large for the brush program must call 311 to have it picked up from their curb lawn. City crews will not enter private property to assist with storm cleanup.
