Howard St from Stadium to W Michigan will be closed starting Monday, July 15 as Amtrak makes major track improvements at this crossing. The City project will also replace drainage pipe just north of the tracks. The roadway will be closed for two weeks and is expected to be open with one lane in each direction on Monday, July 29 for the rest of the resurfacing project.
This project is primarily a resurfacing of Howard Street from Stadium Drive to W Michigan Avenue, but it includes a number of other elements as well:
Estimated construction cost is $724,400. A Federal grant will cover $473,600 and the remaining $248,400 will be covered by the City’s major streets fund. The project will begin shortly after WMU’s spring commencement with completion expected before the fall semester begins.
