Interested in a career in lead abatement? Join us for a free informational session on April 10, 2025, at 1 p.m. at Kalamazoo Michigan Works (1601 S Burdick St) to learn how to become a certified lead abatement worker or supervisor.

This session, hosted by the City of Kalamazoo, Michigan Department of Health & Human Services, and Michigan Works, will cover:

Training for Lead Abatement Workers (no construction experience needed, six months recommended)
Certification for Lead Supervisors (two years of construction experience required)
Work details, including window replacement, painting, and lead hazard removal

These careers pay average salaries of up to $87,000 ($42/hour) and there’s a high demand for contractors that can perform this work for the City’s Lead-Based Paint Remediation Program.
