Kanoe the Kazoo - People kayak on the Kalamazoo River

The City of Kalamazoo is hosting some paddle trips on the Kalamazoo River as part of the 2023 Kanoe the Kazoo events series! Help clean up parts of the river, or just enjoy nature as you paddle along. information on each event is provided below, some details are still being finalized and will be added as soon as possible.

Unfortunately the June 24 river cleanup has been canceled. We hope you can join us on July 22! 

July 22 River Cleanup from Mayor’s Riverfront Park to Gull Road (Experienced Paddlers Only)

We will be paddling the Kalamazoo River from Comstock to Kalamazoo while cleaning up trash in the river and along the riverbanks. This trip is recommended for more experienced paddlers. Bringing waders is recommended but optional. Pre-registration is required.

Check in at Merril Park at 8:30 a.m. and launch by 9:30.

August 5 River Cleanup (Experienced Paddlers Only)

Cleaning up the shoreline while paddling along several miles of river. More details coming soon. More details coming soon.

September 16 Paddle from Merrill Park to Mayor’s Riverfront Park

Experience nature in the city on this morning paddle trip along the middle portion of the Kalamazoo River. More details coming soon.
