Brush the Block is bringing an explosion of color, creativity, and community to downtown Kalamazoo! This vibrant public art mural festival, presented by the Arts Council of Greater Kalamazoo (ACGK) and the City of Kalamazoo, will take place September 2-7, transforming walls, buildings, and public spaces into stunning works of art.

Immerse Yourself in the Festival Atmosphere

Throughout the festival, the streets of downtown Kalamazoo will come alive as talented muralists unleash their creativity, crafting murals that celebrate the spirit and energy of our community. But it doesn’t stop at the art! Brush the Block will also feature:

• Live Entertainment: Enjoy performances from local musicians, dancers, and performers, adding an extra layer of excitement to the festival.
• Interactive Art Installations: Roll up your sleeves and get involved in hands-on art experiences that invite you to become part of the creative process.

Calling All Artists: Be Part of the Magic

Are you a muralist looking to make your mark? Artist participation in Brush the Block is by invitation only, and we’re calling on talented creators to apply now! Submissions are open until February 21. The ACGK selection committee will review applications and artist portfolios to curate a lineup of exceptional talent. Selected artists will be notified by May 20 and provided with event management details to prepare for their role in this extraordinary event.

Mural Locations

Brush the Block will highlight three approved locations for murals, providing the perfect canvas for artists to showcase their vision and creativity:

• Northside Association for Community Development
• Stamped Robin
