A site plan is a legally binding document that details the development plans for a particular site. Site plans include existing and proposed structures along with other man-made and natural features. With the exception of single family homes and duplexes, all development projects in Kalamazoo are required to undergo the site plan review and approval process. This ensures ensures that a proposed development, land use, or activity meets the standards of the zoning ordinance and any applicable state or federal statutes. Plans that meet these requirements must be approved. Site plans are reviewed by the Site Plan Review Committee, established in § 11.4 of the Zoning Ordinance.
